The three S+T+ARTS in the city residencies hosted by HacTe have almost reached their end, and the results will be showcased at major international events.
Mark Farid and Disnovation will showcase their work at Ars Electronica, in Linz, from the 4th until the 8th of September.
Farid’s Invisible Voice installation reimagines online advertising to create meaningful social impact rather than profit. Debuting as an advertising totem board, it identifies the brands you wear or hold and displays related subvertisements and news, offering insights on environmental impacts, corporate accountability, and human rights, among other topics.
Also in Ars Electronica, The Solar Share project by Disnovation will challenge traditional economic models by drawing inspiration from sunlight-harvesting organisms. Presented as a one-square-meter microalgae bioreactor, the artwork emphasizes the human reliance on photosynthesis and introduces edible microalgae as a new economic unit.
And starting on the 8th of September and until the 24th of November, Mónica Rikić will present Somoure at Manifesta Biennal Barcelona Metropolitana. Her installation challenges the notion of assistive robotics as merely a technological solution, instead presenting it as a network of interconnections that will shape the future of care work.
With the collaboration of Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, ICFO and the Institute of Robotics and Industrial Informatics.
